Roadtrip: RailHawks at Charleston Battery

Sorry for the late notice but this match wasn't confirmed until today.

The RailHawks will renew their rivalry with Southern Derby opponent Charleston Battery on Saturday, April 3rd at 5pm at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston. The admission to the match is FREE!

Anyone interested in a roadtrip this holiday weekend? With the early start time, those looking to make it back to the Triangle for Easter can probably get back before the Easter Bunny finishes his rounds.

When we get an idea of who might be interested, we'll sort out some more detailed plans.

Is this our only trip to Charleston this year?

Ok, all the Maybe people who would like a day carpool, you guys should all try to get something organized so we have more than 4 people going! That means, Marc, Craig, Matt..... you guys gotto get together and plan your logistics.

At the moment it looks like my car will need to stay in NC that day; I, on the other hand, don't. If anyone has room for a passenger and wants to do the day trip, I'm happy to pay my share of the gas money. (I'll even take a shift behind the wheel if you need me to, although I can't drive stick.)

Anyway we can borrow the gigantic Railhawks flag from the front office????? That would be AWESOME. And we'll have to see if we can take any of our "drums"...

Javier, I am not able to go due to another commitment, thanks for the offer though. I do want to make a roadtrip when we play CP Baltimore.

Did the Railhawks fans outnumber the Charleston fans?

Not in numbers, but certainly in voice. I think the only time we heard anything out of them was some polite applause after the Battery scored their only goal.

AWESOME like every year, except that it was badly planned by the front office and there weren't many people. Also, first time the pub wasn't open, and that was a pity. Great game overall.

A badly-publicized game, planned on short notice; it's an open question whether counting subs and refs there were more people involved in the game or watching it. On the other hand, the four of us out-chanted the Battery fans, who still significantly outnumbered us. To the point where when we had two of our number go across to the opposite side of the field for a call-and-response, we were still the loudest thing in the stadium.
